Alpine Beer – Mandarin Nectar – 83

Alpine Beer - Mandarin Nectar

This came in my west coast care package and was a completely new brewery to me.  I had my doubts before pouring just by the name alone. I’ve had a number of honey/orange beers that failed to deliver. However, this was a pleasant surprise.

It pours a nice clear orange and brings a pronounced orange and hop aroma. A one finger head formed and dissipated pretty quickly. It a light body with a crisp and refreshing flavor that wasn’t overly sweet. A nice light body with a finish that provides a touch of honey flavor makes this a great summer beer. It was also nice to find some yeast floating in the bottom of the glass to signify it is unfiltered.

It’s a solid, average beer but nothing overwhelming. Drink a cold one after mowing the lawn.

Not sure on price but I would imagine it is reasonably priced. It’s worth picking up if in the $5 range for a bomber.
