Beer Week Fantasy Lineup

As a married father of four who is gainfully employed, I can’t make it out to a Cincinnati Beer Week event every night for ten days. But, the quality of events being put on by all the registered venues compels me to put together my fantasy event lineup of where I would go each day if I had the opportunity, wallet, and liver strength.

Friday – February 13

Cincy Winter Beerfest: It’s an annual tradition for me and my wife to attend and this year is no different. Having gone on both Friday and Saturday nights, I find I prefer the smaller crowd on Friday night and it serves as an excellent way to jump start your Beer Week experience.

Saturday – February 14

Splinterfest: The Moerlein Lager House hosts their annual tapping of barrel aged beers. Highlights include Triple Digit Cranium, Innis & Gunn Oak Rum, and many others from local breweries and beyond.

Sunday – February 15

Kegs N Eggs with Mt. Carmel Brewing: Nurse your hangover with a cajun brunch menu and servings of Mt. Carmel’s Maple Doppelbock and Coffee Brown.

Monday – February 16

Peanut Butter Chickow! Tapping: I’m a sucker for peanut butter beers and I’ve enjoyed Chickow! for a long time now, so this tapping seems like a no brainer to me! The Incline Public House will be tapping a rare keg of the peanut butter variant.

Tuesday – February 17

Sour Night: The Brass Tap is lining up a bunch of sour beers from local and national breweries.  This is a great opportunity to try some different sour beers in one sitting!

Wednesday – February 18

Trappist Ale Tasting: After peanut butter beers, I have a serious weakness for Belgian Trappist ales. Marty’s Hops and Vines is serving some of the finest beers made for centuries by the Trappist monks.

Thursday – February 19

I’ve got two selections for this night due to an event I’m personally involved in…

Hops Class: Me and Danny from BeerMumbo.com will be leading a class on identifying specific flavor and aroma characteristics of different hops. You will drink some specially prepared single-hopped beers along with commercial examples that use the same hop. You can go from hoppy to hop expert in an hour!

MadTree/Rhinegeist Tap Takeover: The best wing joint in the city, that has a gorgeous new beer bar, will be bringing in two of Cincinnati’s most popular breweries to serve up a bunch of their great beers.

Friday – February 20

Limited Release Goose Island Beers and Food Pairing: Goose is pulling out some of their limited release sours and stouts  which will be paired with foods. These are some great Belgian beers that you don’t want to miss, plus Dean’s Hops and Vines is a great venue!

Saturday – February 21

Taste the Planets with Bell’s and CSO: This is a ridiculously cool idea. The Bell’s Planetary series of beers is based off the classical music of Gustav Holst. Bright minds got together to have the Cincinnaty Symphony Orchestra perform the Planetary music while serving beers from the series. Get cultured and a little tipsy at the same time!

Sunday – February 22

Meet The Brewers: What better way to close out an awesome week then meeting and thanking all the hardworking brewers in Cincinnati??! The whole gang with be at Moerlein Lager House to meet and greet with all their thirsty fans.
