New craft beer research from Kendall College
Students and professors at the Kendall College School of Hospitality recently completed research on the surging craft beer industry to better understand its growth and impact. Assistant professors John Laloganes and Phil Mott worked along with a group of students to provide research and insights that resulted in both a study and infographic. They researched growth of the industry as a whole, trends in the industry, food pairings, jobs within the industry along with what consumers enjoyed most about craft beer. Some of the highlights of the infographic are as follows.
- Millenials (ages 25-34) enjoy the taste of craft beer (43%) where Baby Boomers don’t enjoy it as much (32%).
- A large number of consumers (45%) are willing to try more craft beer if they were knew more about craft beer in general.
- The sale of craft beer was steady at 5.7 billion in 2007. That number saw a large rise to 12 billion in 2012 and experts project it to triple to nearly 40 billion by 2017.
