Downtown’s Newest Bottle Shop: Everything’s d’Vine
Downtowners rejoice, you have a new hop and barley (and vine) oasis. The Beer Mumbo and I stopped by Everything’s d’Vine located at 320 W. Fourth Street (near 4th and Plum) during lunch on Friday, November 2nd. This was literally their second day in operation and it appears everything was coming together great. The store front features a prominent burgundy awning and you enter on the west, wine side of the shop. I’m a complete novice when it comes to wine so I skipped past the extremely attractive displays and hit the east half of the shop that holds all their craft beer.
There was a pretty impressive selection six packs and bombers from a range of American and Beglian brewers. In speaking with the proprietor, the stock was only just getting started as they recently signed on an additional distributor. There were staple crafts as well as a healthy selection of seasonal varieties. It was also promising to find some Ohio Beers (Mt. Carmel, Christian Moerlein, Buckeye Brewing, Hoppin Frog) and one can only hope they connect with the likes Rivertown, Blank Slate, Triple Digit, Listermann, and the soon-to-brew Mad Tree (50 West needs to get on the bottling band wagon!).
I ended up grabbing a Dogfishhead 75-Minute IPA and a Buzzards Bay/Just Beer Golden Flounder, both bombers. The Dogfish sounded very promising since its a blend of their infamous 60 and 90 minute IPAs with added maple syrup. The $7.99 Dogfish and $3.99 Flounder were very reasonably priced.
I am hopeful that their selection will grow as business picks up. This could be a nice stop on my better beer store list when I’m in the area. I also must say the store itself is gorgeous with its exposed brick walls and dark wood open shelving. There is lots of space and despite the many, many, many bottles all around you it didn’t feel claustrophobic. It will be a great place for some future tasting events. Below are some additional photos I snapped.
