Ei8ht Ball To Begin Canning
Northern Kentucky’s Ei8ht Ball Brewing is taking another step in expanding their distribution footprint after widening their draft distribution footprint in recent months. They will begin by canning three of their more popular flagship beers; Red Drink, Prodigal, Mike Czech, and Tarnished. Previously, the only packaged beer they offered was bombers of their GABF award-winning Reintarnation.
As a reminder, they are smaller brewery so don’t expect to find cans at every local Kroger but this bodes well for those who aren’t able to make a trip to Bellevue as often as they would like. I don’t have details on where these will show up but it’s safe to say you’ll be able to pick them up at The Party Source initially. I’ll keep you posted as I know more about distribution plans.
We could see different cans in the future as they look at using an “interchangeable” label system that makes it much more economical for them to manage can inventory (sort of like their growlers). The cans share the checkerboard background and then have a different colored/named label placed on the can. I’ve seen similar approaches used more often as a blank can is shrink wrapped or stickered to allow greater flexibility.
No matter how they approach this, it’s awesome to see another locally brewed beer in a portable format. I’m particularly excited to see Red Drink in a can – definitely my favorite of their flagships!
