First Look: Christian Moerlein Helltown Rye-Ot Label

I shared with you last week that we would see Moerlein’s new fall seasonal rye brown ale in bottles soon. Well we are getting one step closer with the approval of the label.  It features a skull and cross bones motif with a fork and knife in place of the bones and a Latin folk art inspired hop-eyed skull.  This was a great beer on draft last year and I look forward to seeing it in bottles soon.  Plus, the artwork is pretty awesome!

The Story

This beer is named after Northside’s ruckus reputation from the early 19th century.  The bottle text reads:

You’ve made a discovery – A liberally hopped brown ale that tingles the palate with a hefty dose of spicy rye malt. This bottle is full of the passion we have for Cincinnati and is an homage to the diverse neighborhoods of Northside where this brew was created. Once known as Helltown for its rowdy nightlife, Northside provided the right chemistry to craft this hop-infused brown ale. Have a rye-ot today!
