How to brew on professional equipment for a fraction of the cost
If you’ve ever made a beer in your garage or basement, you’ve probably daydreamed about brewing that same beer on a large scale. Normally, you would need to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in capital, talk to lawyers and bankers, and spend a boatload of time launching a business. Guess what, it’s way easier than that. Well, sort of.
Be Legendary. Be Oktobersbest.
Whether you are a rookie homebrewer or a seasoned veteran, you have the opportunity to brew your great beer on a professional brewing system if you take home the Best of Show prize at the Cincinnati Malt Infusers Oktobersbest homebrew competition. The Cincinnati Malt Infusers have teamed up with the recently crowned King of the Cincinnati IPA winner, Blank Slate Brewing Company, to provide the hardware and facility. And, not only do you get a crack at brewing like a pro, your beer will be served at the 2014 Cincy Beerfest on Fountain Square! You can finally tell your significant other, family, and friends to shove it because you make award winning beer!
Some of the region’s finest artisans of craft beer will descend upon the Covington Radisson hotel overlooking the Ohio River on Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19. Friday night features a party to welcome the judges, stewards, and other guests. Saturday is when the magic happens. Oktobersbest will feature some stiff competition with 500 different beers coming in from around the city and the country. You can simply enter your beer and wait patiently at home for the result or you can be a part of the action at the actual competition. There is always a need for judges and stewards to help manage the business and there are ample opportunities to share in good cheer with the other attendees. The competition also features an amazing closing ceremony with the awards presentation and a boatload of great prizes to go around. Those planning to really enjoy themselves can get a deal at the Radisson if they mention Cincinnati Malt Infusers and Oktobersbest when calling to register for a room.
How To Enter
Online entries are being accepted now through October 12 at 5PM (or sooner if the slots fill up) by visiting http://maltinfusers.
I know I will be entering at least one beer and possibly another if I can get my act together. The great thing about the competitions is that even if you don’t win you can get some great feedback on your beer. Having some accurate, critical feedback on your brew will help you dial in your process and continue on your quest to making that great beer. Win or lose, it’s a lot of fun! Prosit!
