MadTree Update: Leaked can prototypes and Winter Beerfest

Lights! Cans! Action!

madtree_lift_sprye_cans-spy_shotLook what my camera found! The next two cans in the MadTree lineup! Lift (kolsch) will be the fourth year-round can while Sprye (rye) will be a spring seasonal can. Look for Lift launching just before Beerfest and Sprye shortly thereafter.  The Lift can features an interesting bird to tree to bird illustration.  The Sprye can features a sort of southwest theme (the best way I can describe it, don’t worry it works).

All told, they anticipate having a total of eight cans per year.  PsycHOPathy, Happy Amber, Gnarly Brown, and Lift year-rounds= and four seasonal beers.  My wish list for the other three seasonals would be Axis Mundi, PumpCAN (done deal), and Flight of Simcoe.   Thundersnow might be a curveball.  No matter what, this is awesome news for those who can’t make it out to the taproom or local bars to try the rapid fire release of some of their other great beers.

Speaking of Axis Mundi, they’ve dialed-in the formula some more and this latest batch gets it closer to their original recipe and intention.  I had a sample and it’s fantastic!  The edgy roastiness has been muted and you get a more creamy chocolate flavor.  The most recent batch of Galaxy High (#3) sees it bouncing back to the profile of the first batch which is a good thing.  It’s a citrus bomb!

The latest MadTree short film was recently released and the third in the series should be out by the end of the month.

Word on the street is they should have a pretty dramatic presence.  In my head it’s like the 1:50 mark in this video clip but it’s probably more like a big beer truck.  They plan to bring some special beers so get there early to make sure you have a crack at them.  Bourbon barrel barleywine anyone?  We should also see the two new cans there (for display purposes only).
