Making a run FFFor the border

It’s no secret I have a total beer-crush on Three Floyds Brewing. You’ve probably heard of the legend of their beers and perhaps have been lucky to sample a few. The Munster, IN based brewery is notoriously difficult to find outside of the state. They even had to limit their brewery sales to two cases because liquor stores in Chicago were paying crackheads to go in and buy cases (at retail) so they could sell it in their stores.
Around Chriatmas there was a brief explosion of Zombie Dust and some local better beer bars have secured a fairly steady flow of draft. However, bottles tend to remain a bit elusive. We are extremely lucky to be situated near three states with different distribution and beverage laws. That means we can find a broad variety of beers with a relatively short drive.
Now back to my original point. You can find Three Floyds beers pretty easily if you cross over into Indiana. I feel too guilty hoarding my beer knowledge so here are three solid stores you can hit up to get your FFF fix.
1070 East Eads Parkway (HWY 50)
Greendale, IN 47025
Mon – Thurs: 9:00 am to 11:00 pm
Friday & Sat: 9:00 am to Midnight
This is right off 275 on Rt 50 before Hollywood Casino. It doesn’t look like much but they have a solid selection and you can make your own 6-pack. I’ve had the best luck at this store compared to their other locations.
West Side Liquors and Fine Wine Shop
105 S State St
West Harrison, IN 47060
Mon: 8:00 am to 9:00 pm
Tue – Sat: 8:00 am to 10:00 pm
Lots of bombers and a few six pack varieties. I even managed to stumble upon Zombie Dust but I think this was a matter of being in the right place at the right time. The guy I talked to said they’re willing to order stuff for you if you call it in.
Pour House Bottle Shop
612 Green Blvd
Aurora, IN 47001
Mon-Thu: 9:00 am to 11:00 pm
Fri-Sat: 9:00 am to midnight
I haven’t personally been to this store before but I’ve heard they also carry a good selection of Three Floyds. I’m hoping to get there soon.
A note to parents: apparently kids are not allowed in liquor stores in IN – at all. Or at least that’s what they tell me…
As a bonus you can usually find Great Crescent, New Belgium, Flat 12, and Boulevard Brewing. There’s a chance Sun King could start reaching out this way, too.
Best of luck brew hunters!
