New Belgium – Red Hoptober – 86
New Belgium is one of the cornerstone craft breweries and is well known for their Fat Tire amber. Red Hoptober (as the name implies) is a different take on the classic released as a fall seasonal. The label bills it as a compliment to trailing summer heat and the onset of the fall/winter chill. Beyond all the nice words, this is an amber with some bite and smoke. The hop bill includes Centennial, Cascade, and Eldorado (not very familiar with this strain). It’s a good beer and does a solid job serving as a season transition beer with the slight smoke undertone and hop forward bitterness and aroma. Well worth checking out.
Cincinnati peeps: roll across the border to Lawrenceburg, IN to find New Belgium products. Whitey’s Liquors is my store of choice.
