Quick update from Blank Slate
Blank Slate proprietor, janitor, and yeast farmer, Scott LaFollette, was kind enough to answer a few questions about BSBC and the Cincinnati Beer Week collaboration brew. The most exciting news is the bottling getting up and running soon. I would love to be able to pick up some bottles!
How was it getting in on the action this year with all the local brewers? I picture a room full of unshaven dudes opining on malting techniques and yeast flocculation. How far off from the truth am I?
There is a little of that but there is also a lot of talk about price points, UPC coding, label print costs and other business related BS.
With your Stagnaro distribution deal set in motion, what is the next big beer or project you are working on?
We have a few new beers on the horizon. We will be doing a Quaff Brothers Collaboration soon as well as brewing the Beer and Sweat winner as a special batch for Beer Week as well. There are a few new BSBC beers coming soon as well. Once things calm down with the new distributor relationship I need to focus my efforts on getting bottling up and running for early next year.
Anything else to share about Beer Week or Blank Slate?
Beer Week should be great. I think the group putting everything together is doing a great job and I expect the event will be even bigger and better this year. It’ll be my first time participating so in some respects I’ll just be along for the ride…
