Toys for Tots, Beers for Adults

Cappy’s in Loveland is putting together a fantastic Black Friday sale that will benefit the Toys for Tots charity while giving you access to purchase a number of hard to find beers. Cappy’s owner Ben Capodagli says, “What better charity could we get involved with this time of year other than one that provides new toys for children who otherwise may be receiving nothing for Christmas!” Small donations can go a long way to help brighten the holidays for local children.  There is also a chance to purchase the elusive Pappy Van Winkle for you bourbon-heads! They’ve got rare beers, great beers, rare booze, and growler fill specials. There’s a bunch going on here so stay with me and you may want to start making your own wish list!

Donate a Toy, Pick Up a Hard to Find Beer

Two Marines will be on-hand with collection boxes. For each toy you donate, you can purchase one of the beers below.  Toys must be brand new in the package and of a $10 or greater value so that these kids have something to be really excited about on Christmas morning.  For example, donate some Frozen dolls and scoop up a Black Note, KBS, and FFF pack. Of course, this is while supplies last and they expect to sell out within the first hour or two. There are 112 total bottles made up from these options so your chances are good but only if you show up early.

  1. Bell’s Black Note – one bottle limit
  2. Founders KBS – one bottle limit
  3. Clown Shoes Extremely Angry Beast – one bottle limit
  4. Three Floyds Package: (1) Gumballhead and (1) Zombie Dust – one package limit
  5. Jackie O’s Barrel Aged Brick Kiln – one bottle limit

UPDATE: Bonus Craft Connection Beer Tour Giveaway

The kind folks at Craft Connection brewery tours have hooked up with Cappy’s to give away two free seats on any upcoming brewery tour (valued at $110). Each toy donation will earn you an entry into the giveaway – so five toys equals five chances!

About the Craft Connection tours: Over four hours you visit four breweries with tours running Thursday through Sunday. All of the beer is included on our tour and we get behind the scenes access. Brewery partners include: Rhinegeist, Listermann, Mad Tree, Bad Tom, 50 West, Mt. Carmel, Blank Slate (coming soon), and Braxton (coming soon). Tours begin at HalfCut in OTR.

Pappy Lottery

Cappy’s received received one bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 15 year. Anyone who donates a toy will fill out a a ticket that will be drawn on Saturday November 29, the day after Black Friday. The winner will then have the opportunity to buy Pappy 15.  You do not have to buy anything to be entered into the drawing, you just have to donate a toy. The limit on the number of tickets you can enter into the drawing is 5 tickets.  So if you donate 5 toys you get 5 tickets entered into the drawing.

Growler Specials

Personally, I wouldn’t walk past a couple of toy-soliciting Marines without dropping off something but there are still great deals for you at the growler station. All day Friday there will be discounts on their awesome growler station. The more you buy, the better the discount. Fill 1-2 growlers and receive 10% off the fill price.  Fill 3 or more growlers and receive 20% off the fill price.

Don’t forget, they have a Pegas filler so you can stock up and these will stay brewery fresh for a month or more. You can check the site to see what is on that day but they expect to have the following:

  • Brew Kettle El Lupulo Libre
  • Founders Backwoods Bastard

In full disclosure, Cappy’s Loveland has generously sponsored this site for nearly a year to help defray some of my web hosting expenses.  However, I promote this because it is aligns with my personal belief that the community’s shared love for craft beer can generate a lot of positive effects for those around us. I am always on board with beer events that support charitable endeavors and provide a great return for those that give selflessly. Long story short – I support anyone looking to have a positive impact on our community and this isn’t just a self-serving giant advertisement.
